School Days, School Days...

Remember that song?  I remember sitting in 5th grade "music" class singing it from some lovely song book that Mrs. Gan had.  That was back in the days when they had cut all funding for art, music and PE teachers so the classroom teachers had to cover all it.  Sing it with me now:

School days
School days
Dear old golden rule days
Reading and writing and 'rithmetic...(I can remember having her explain that we were to say 'rithmetic  and not arithmetic!  Memories!)

Okay, that's all of the song that I can remember and I am sure that you are all very glad for that!  Anyway, school must begin!  We are all enjoying our relaxed, laid back California lifestyle, but some learnin' must start happening around here!  So, whether we want to or not, the Beard Family Elementary School will open its doors on Monday, November 5 at 8:30 a.m.

Our downstairs basement was just completed yesterday, so my mother-in-law (HUGE thanks to her) and I worked like crazy today, to get everything in order so that school can begin.  Here it is, our school (and lounge area, doesn't every school room have that?!).

We thought you might enjoy some before pictures!

Micah has complained as to why I needed to keep all of my school stuff for all of these years!  Well, so glad I did!

Not sure what is happening with the laser light beam here.  Sure hope that doesn't burn our papers while we work!  Ha! Ha!

The doors to our school.  I think we need a school sign.

Our outside playground area.  We can have lots of fun with some sidewalk chalk here.  (The fireplace tools will go back inside.  Don't want someone to get hurt!)

Things must get worse before they get better.

Our little librarian!

While we were working, the "turkeys" down the street heard about our school and came squawking!  There were actually about 13 turkeys in our yard today.  Crazy!

Ooooh-la-la!  Look at our fun Ikea table!  Super excited about that.

Here is the teacher's lounge!

This is for Mrs. Yerkes!  Some piano lessons are going to need to happen here.  (We really might need to entertain that piano lessons via Skype idea!)

Our little built in computer center/office.

So, that's our school.  Not sure how this is all going to work, but we have a place to get started now!  Let the reading, writing and 'rithmetic begin!
